Did you know that Chertoff was the one in charge of New Orleans relief post the levee break? That should be interesting to everyone because as I mentioned in a previous post, Chertoff is the one behind the naked body scanners. Why should we be concerned about these two things and the Chertoff connection?
I remember being overseas and seeing the reports over the internet and although I’m not crazy about New Orleans (LOVE their cuisine), I felt the people were truly being portrayed as animals. There was something about the information I was seeing that just didn’t feel complete. Turns out, I was working with a man who lived in the area. After about 5 days of this, he decided he needed to go home to check on his parents. When he returned about 3 weeks later, we were given details that the news wasn’t sharing the entire truth.
The initial images we saw were people looting and acting like savages. As we all found out later, they were left in the convention center to fend for themselves. Essential supplies were deployed and on the ground but they weren’t getting to the people. Oh– you do recall that Chertoff was in charge of Homeland Security back then? It’s stunning to find out later all of the details and one that knocks me out is the fact that people were not allowed to just walk out of the center. They were forced back at gunpoint to remain there. It’s astonishing that this man was not fired on the spot. How can that be his only focus and with all of his “expertise” he couldn’t manage to form a plan to rescue people sooner than 3 weeks after Katrina? To me, it’s not about incompetence, it was a trial or test run. I remember that video of Kyane West saying “George Bush hates Black people”– that may be true but he really should have pointed that statement at Chertoff. The real problem behind the New Orleans failure. Fast forward to 2011 and the naked body scanners. Maybe we should be asking ourselves, “should we trust a man with a track record like that to have any input into our safety and security”?
I think Fox News is one of the most poisonous news outlets on the airwaves but this clip appears to show another side of reporting from them (for once). These two reporters could not seem to contain the fact that something was terribly wrong. When one of the reporters mentions; “we’ve seen this before”, ask yourselves, what does he mean? Here’s a hint: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”P.S. In Russian, Chertoff loosely translates to “of the devil”. You have to agree– the guy does have an evil, almost non-human (incapable of empathy) feel about him. In my opinion, he’s part of that 4 percent of sociopaths/psychopaths that run our world and we should have him imprisoned for Katrina ALONE.
