How the media manipulates us: A brief documentary

Having a bit of knowledge as a video editor in news with an understanding of Telecine and control rooms, this short clip is really something to watch.  I’ve never been interested in a Satellite dish (for home use) but it appears that if people watch television through satellite, they can probably see live feeds yet never knew it.  That is utterly fascinating to me!  This documentary is dated and perhaps our public figures have figured out by now that they should never talk shop with a hot mic, but then again– maybe they haven’t!  This short clip lends some insight into how we are being manipulated through media and I consider it a valuable resource tool.  You’ll finally see that what we’ve been watching (all of it) has been this carefully orchestrated production and just how disingenuous it really is.  You might finally come to realize that not a single public figure has ever (ever) had your best interest in mind to boot!  Hey– I realize that’s a tough pill to swallow.  And please keep in mind how many times I’ve repeated that media is actually owned by 5 individuals who controls nearly 90% of print, radio and television.  Before deregulation, there were more than 500 different ownerships.  This clip is a real eye opener.

(A FUTURE NOTE: Should youtube ever delete this clip, and if the hyperlink: “Watch on YouTube” appears, just click and you’ll go to the song/clip chosen.  This notation is for all youtube videos that are linked on “YOY” cuz youtube has been fvkin’ up my groove lately!  Thanks.)

  1. Interesting and this was about 20 years ago, it makes me glad that I watch very little TV now. All of the anchers were coaching the people that we on the new channels. Even seeing some of the new achers that many people love today let you see them at level playing fields. Everyone seems so phoney in this world all smokes and mirrors, especially with certain race relations.

    • “… all smoke and mirrors”… Giirrrlll…. that’s what I’ve been trying tell folks. More than 90% of it is a well orchestrated production! I’m still floored to know that if I had satellite back then (especially since I’m familiar with feeds) I would have actually known about this 20 years ago. Instead of the programming, I would have been tuning into the feeds!
