Mid-Week Jam (MWJ): Queen

As much as we try each week to just simply post songs for your enjoyment, sometimes a commentary might be needed.  This is one of those weeks.  In the 70’s there was a show called; “The Midnight Special” hosted by Wolfman Jack.  This was long before VH1, BET, MTV and the likes.  This show had a variety of artists too.  It was a show that unified EVERYONE through good music (Earth, Wind and Fire, Elton John, George Clinton, Confunkshun, Gino Vinelli, Dr. John– the list goes on and on).  They featured artists of all types and genre.  We’re posting this song from that show just because #1 we were able to find it, and #2, DAMN– it’s a cool song to us!  We like all forms of music, so we hope you like this week’s Mid-Week Jam (MWJ) too.  It’s a “feel good song” that reminds me of my first trip on the coast of California in a convertible.  Love, peace and happiness.

  1. The work computer won’t let me see the video, but it’s funny that you mentioned “The Midnight Special”. I had never heard of it until the other day when I saw a paid commerical program for it. Time life is selling the DVD set of the show. So I am watching it thinking that it was a shame I missed out on such a seemingly great show (blame it on not being born yet, lol). The musical performances looked great and definitely had all my favorites. Maybe we can sit all the new artists down and make them watch the show?

    • Awe… that’s ashame that you can’t see the video… can you hear the song? I sure hope so. i’m going to re-post the song so that maybe you’ll be able to see and hear it.

It was a very cool show back in the day. And agreed– let’s find a way to sit the old artists with these new ones, cuz, DAMN! some of them seem to have no clue of real music or originality! (smile)

      • Nice! I just got finished watching it. So now this makes me seriously consider calling Time Life, lol. They way the Industry has been recycling older movies and music, I am surprised no one has thought of making a Queen Musical. If they did it with Thriller, I’m sure they could do it with Queen.
