WASHINGTON — A top executive of American International Group Inc. has been granted a $4.3 million pay-package bump by the troubled insurance giant’s majority owner – the U.S. government – because the executive has decided to remain with the company.
Kenneth Feinberg, the Obama administration’s pay czar, approved an AIG request to grant the executive a long-term compensation package that includes stock options with a current value of $3.26 million and an additional incentive award of up to $1 million. The package comes on top of the executive’s 2009 base salary of $450,000.
In a letter released by the Treasury Department Monday, Feinberg said he was granting the request so that the executive’s long-term compensation package would be comparable to those already granted to AIG’s other top 25 executives. The executive had been planning to leave the company and had not been granted long-term compensation benefits.
Treasury, citing privacy restrictions, refused to reveal the executive’s name and an AIG spokesman said the company would not disclose it either.
AIG has been a focus of taxpayer outrage over executive bonuses after it was revealed that the insurer, based in New York, would pay millions of dollars in bonuses to employees of the division whose trading in complex financial instruments had brought the company to the brink of collapse. The government provided up to $182 billion to stabilize AIG and as a result the Treasury Department holds a nearly 80 percent stake in the company.
In granting the request for an expanded compensation package, Feinberg said it was appropriate “to ensure that the employee contributes to AIG’s long-term success and, ultimately, AIG’s ability to repay taxpayers.”
The companies under Feinberg’s jurisdiction have argued that the strict pay restrictions have made it harder for them to retain and attract top talent.
Feinberg has set pay restrictions for AIG and other companies receiving the largest amounts of support from the government’s $700 billion bailout fund. Many banks have scrambled to pay back their government assistance to escape the pay restrictions.
In a separate ruling, Feinberg said Monday he was amending the pay restrictions for Citigroup Inc. to expand the number of executives covered by special overseas living allowances to five instead of four.
In October, Feinberg ruled that companies receiving exceptional assistance from the bailout program, known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program, would have the cash salaries for the top 25 highest-paid executives limited in most cases to $500,000 with additional compensation required to be paid in company stock that cannot be redeemed until beginning in 2011.
Feinberg sought through the stock compensation to better tie executives’ performances to the long-term fortunes of their companies. SOURCE: HuffingtonPost.com

It’s an absolute outrage to think that these two EMT’s felt there was nothing they could do because they were on a “meal break” rather than to put their bagels down and save this person’s life! It clearly appears that race played a factor in this, but I’m more focused on public servants failing time and time again to serve the public! They still work for us (the PUBLIC) PERIOD! Isn’t it our tax dollars (state and federal) that pay they salaries?
A message to Bloomberg, you’d better take swift action on this and fire these two (not to exclude jail time because this could be consider manslaughter if not MURDER), put a Bill in place to send a strong message so that this sort of inaction by our public servants will NEVER be tolerated again!

Okay… this is a double-whammy! On one hand it’s a pretty scary thing to know how advanced our teenage girls really are. Bless her heart, she was actually on her second bottle of wine when she called to tell me about this! Of course I had her email it to me… and boy oh boy is this little girl hot! I’ve always said that boys are the only way to go because these little girls today are more sexually advanced than you’d really be able to rap your head around. Lesbians in South Africa are being dragged off the street and raped to “correct” them, it has been claimed. Sky News has found evidence of widespread abuse against the lesbian community – resulting in a new trend of so-called “corrective rape”. In the the township of Khayelitsha, on the outskirts of Cape Town, Sky spoke to a group of women who said they live in fear of their lives. All of them said they know someone who has been violently dragged off the streets and raped because they had come out as a lesbian. Funeka Solidaat said she had been attacked on two occasions – on the second she was raped. She said the men covered their faces with balaclavas and that she had been repeatedly threatened with rape in the township. Funeka believed it was only a matter of time before it happened – and then it did. But what shocked her even more, she said, was the attitude of the police. She was made to feel like “a laughing stock” when she reported the crime. The police did not even bother to finish taking a statement from her, she maintained.
Funeka was part of a group of women Sky met at a safe house in Khayelitsha township. As they talked, it became clear the so-called motive for the attack was to “correct” them. Desire Dudu told Sky she had come out as a lesbian but, in her view, in South African society you risk your life if you make your sexuality clear. In Soweto, South Africa’s biggest township, Sky went to gauge the views of men towards lesbians in society. It is a huge sprawling township in Johannesburg.
Although there is a progressive post-apartheid black middle class in South Africa, Sky was told the views of the men who spoke up were reflective of the masses. One man roared with laughter as he said lesbians should be “whipped”. “There is no mention of lesbians in the bible,” he said. They said they approved of lesbians being raped to “correct” them and to “teach them a lesson”. They said “women should behave like women” and this was a way of “teaching” them that.
Campaigners say although South Africa has a wide-ranging constitution, attitudes need to change within the police and the government if lesbians are ever going to be able to live safely and openly within the townships. The townships have always been the voice of black South Africans. But the lesbian community is a section of society which considers itself ostracized and abused in a country which struggled hard to define itself as a land of equality. SOURCE: Skynews

It’s a really tragic thing that these women are enduring. It reminds me of another odd belief so many of the men from that region had about AIDS/HIV. They somehow developed a belief that if they had sex (raped a baby), that would rid them of the disease. We should send our troops there because those women really need some protection. I can’t imagine living with that type of fear daily.
I hadn’t really cared to weigh on this subject because everyone else has gone into overtime covering his infidelities. But one thing I do want to ask is why are all of these “chicks” coming out to tell the world that they are home-wrecking hoes? (He is a public figure, isnt’ he?) One of these ho’s actually had the nerve to be jealous when she found out there were others?! Really?!
